LUSITANO HORSE BREEDING

During the Carnation Revolution in 1974 (Portugal), we acquired an important number of Lusitano horses, from Mr. Francisco Ribeiro´s origins, through D. Antero Zurita Molina.venta de caballos lusitanos

We selected those animals, having had the honor to be advised by Mr. Fernando Sommers D´Andrade, Mr. Arsenio Raposo Cordeiro, Mr. Felipe Graciosa, Mr. Guillermo Borba or Mr. Fernando Palha among others.

Thanks to the ones already mentioned and specially to the know-how, the lusitano stud has had the honor to be awarded in numerous occasions and the satisfaction of having collaborated with the expansion of the lusitano breed, being a significant fact the sale of Lusitano fillies to different stud farms destined to breeding P.S.L. horses in Spain.

The set of Lusitano mares that make up our stud farm is the result of a meticulous work of selecting and  horse breeding as strict as patient, although it is important to acknowledge that the origins from Francisco Ribeiro, base of our actual stud farm, have paved our paths.

Over the years we have outlined our type of horses, favoring their natural development through a necessary upbringing in freedom, and selecting the young Lusitano mares when they are four years old, in this way we have been able to maintain a very homogeneous group of mares, capable of transmitting their virtues, enabling us to offer our clients horses for sale with similar levels to those we keep selecting to breed.

Besides the following Lusitano stallions, we would like to recognize also Tapicero, Niño II, Veloz and Andador III, who were admitted in the Portuguese Studbook because of their virtues, they also helped us to further refine the stud farm.
